    　ところが、その後、オタク文化はより巨大になり、より洗練された。そして、オタク文化がより一般的になり、オタクを名乗ることに対する抵抗感が薄れた結果、オタクを名乗りながらも実態としては「みんなと同じ」ではないと気が済まない人間が増えてきたのだろうと推測する。

    　「みんなと同じ」であることが「勝ち」であり、「だれも見ていないアニメをひとりで見ている」ことが「負け」であると考えるような価値観、それはまさに一昔前の「普通の人」そのものだ。

    　オタクはいま、「普通の人」に侵食されつつある。しかし、皮肉なことに、より広い視点で見れば、その「普通の人」は過去の概念になりつつある。もはや「みんなが見ているテレビ番組」だの、「みんなが聴いているポップミュージック」だのは存在しない。「普通の人」はもはや必ずしも「普通」ではないのである。
